Positive Sustainable Change

The knowledge and skills you have gained at the Center for Leadership and Civic Education and The Florida State University are not limited to your collegiate career. We have come up with some tangible ways to stay active post-graduation, display responsible citizenship in your daily life, and practice effective leadership as a Center alumnus:

Stay Active

  1. Express interest in serving on a local nonprofit organization's board of directors.
  2. Vote in local, state and national elections.
  3. Consider campaigning for a local political race.
  4. Attend and consider organizing local rallies for causes you are passionate about.
  5. Consider joining The Florida State University Alumni Association.

Display Responsible Citizenship and Practice Effective Leadership

  1. Be a responsible consumer.
  2. Support local businesses.
  3. Be a "citizen-journalist"- take on the responsibility of informing the greater community of causes you believe in.
  4. Mentor a child or youth in your local community.
  5. Consider serving at your local chapter of a national organizations. Examples include: The Red Cross; Big Brothers, Big Sisters; Habitat for Humanity; United Way; Amnesty International
