Service Scholars

The purpose of the Service Scholar Program is both to recognize incoming students with an outstanding record of service and leadership and to prepare students to become active citizens and leaders on campus and in their communities after graduation.

As a member of the program, Service Scholars follow their own path of individual community service, participate in group projects with fellow Scholars, attend regular social and educational sessions, enroll in a first-year Scholar course, and learn leadership and advocacy skills. Staff of the Center for Leadership and Civic Education oversee and advise the program. Service Scholars themselves, however, through an elected board, plan activities and service projects, as well as maintain the standards for participating in the program.
