Statewide Programs
The Center for Leadership and Civic Education is home to several statewide
programs that promote and strengthen student service, service-learning
and civic engagement throughout all levels of education in Florida.
The Center created the Florida Alliance for Student Service (FASS)
to enable Florida Campus Compact (for which FSU is the host institution),
Florida Learn and Serve and Florida VISTA to work cooperatively to
multiply the resources and increase the capacity for schools and colleges
to develop active citizens.
Florida
Campus Compact
Florida Campus Compact promotes learning through service to develop student
citizenship skills and values, encourage collaborative partnerships between
campuses and communities and assist faculty who seek to integrate community
engagement into their teaching and research.
Florida
Learn & Serve
Florida Learn and Serve is a federally funded grant program that awards
grants to schools and youth-serving organizations to engage youth in
service learning.
State
Farm Florida Service Learning And Home Safety Initiative
State Farm Insurance and the State Farm Companies Foundation have awarded
funds to Florida to support student advocacy and information campaigns
to raise awareness about the importance of building codes and disaster
preparation. Florida schools, from kindergarten through higher education,
can receive funds to have students learn about these issues and educate
their peers, parents, and the public about them.
VISTA
The Florida Alliance for Student Service (FASS) VISTA Initiative enables
students, through education and structured service-learning opportunities,
to help communities find sustainable solutions to pressing social problems.
