Sustained Service Experiences

What?
FSU is committed to educating engaged citizens who will impact their communities at home and abroad.  Sustained service is one way to serve in the community while gaining experience related to personal, professional, and academic goals.  Sustained service experiences vary in length from one week to two or more years.  Students who choose to participate in sustained service can serve across the country and around the world at a wide variety of non-profit agencies.

So What?
Sustained service experiences provide students with an opportunity to learn about themselves and the world through service.  Students can learn about a new culture or language, build relationships in a new community, and contribute to an area of community need.  Sustained service experiences are opportunities to learn while creating positive sustainable change around the world.

Now What?
Browse the listings below to learn about agencies.  Sustained service can be incorporated into the undergraduate experience and is also an exciting postgraduate option.  Agencies are listed by the region served or the duration of service.

The Center’s Summer Serviceship Program provides funding to selected Florida State University students who wish to focus 8 – 12 weeks of their summer on full-time service at a non-profit agency in the United States or abroad. For complete information visit http://thecenter.fsu.edu. Click on the Students tab and scroll down to Summer Serviceship Program.

Students interested in global service should consider participating in the Global Pathways Certificate.  For complete information visit the Global Pathways website: http://global.fsu.edu/globalpathways.sustainedservicejpg
