About the speaker
Dr. Zduy Chu is a distinguished leader in higher education and student affairs, currently serving as the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs at Florida State University. Recognized as a NASPA Foundation Pillar of the Profession for 2025, Dr. Chu brings over 20 years of experience dedicated to advancing student success, inclusivity, and leadership development.
At Florida State, Dr. Chu oversees Fraternity & Sorority Life, University Housing and Childcare, New Student and Family Programs, Student Engagement, and the Panama City campus Student Affairs. Previously, he served as the Deputy Chief Officer of Student Affairs at Valdosta State University and held leadership positions at Georgia State University and the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Dr. Chu is known for implementing programs that address critical student needs, focused on success, belonging, and retention. His expertise spans residence life, counseling, student engagement, strategic planning, diversity and inclusion work, and support services.
A respected mentor, Dr. Chu has guided many student affairs professionals and advocates for innovative student support approaches. He frequently presents at regional and national conferences on innovative approaches to success. Dr. Chu holds a doctorate from Georgia State University and both a master’s and bachelor’s degree from the University of Arkansas.
Dr. Chu is also a certified Intercultural Development Inventory administrator, a facilitator for StrengthsQuest and LeaderShape, and serves on multiple regional and national boards within and outside of NASPA.
Dr. Chu resides in Tallahassee with his wife Dr. Natalie McManus Chu and their two children.
