Symposium organizers will help attendees understand what to expect throughout the weekend, and staff will prepare participants to engage in their first activity of the conference.
About the speakers

Dr. Amy Hecht
Vice President for Student Affairs, Florida State University
Dr. Hecht serves as the Vice President for Student Affairs at Florida State University. In this role, she serves as an officer of the institution and provides vision and leadership for the Division of Student Affairs. Prior to joining FSU as the Vice President for Student Affairs, Dr. Hecht has served in a number of leadership roles including Vice President for Student Affairs at The College of New Jersey, Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs at Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama, the Associate Dean of Students at Temple University in Philadelphia, Assistant Dean of Students at Temple University, and Assistant Director of Student Activities at Cabrini College in Radnor, Pennsylvania.
Dr. Hecht earned her bachelor’s degree at Florida State University in mass communications and completed her master’s degree and doctorate in Higher Education Administration at the University of Pennsylvania.

Jackson Boisvert
Student Body President, Florida State University
Jackson Boisvert is the Student Body President at Florida State University, where he is pursuing a double major in Economics and Political Science. A junior, Jackson has demonstrated his commitment to leadership and service through numerous roles within the university’s community. He previously served as the President of the Interfraternity Council, the Student Body Attorney General for the Student Government Association, and the Vice President of Alumni Relations for the Garnet and Gold Key Leadership Honorary.
Originally from Orlando, Florida, Jackson has a strong passion for advocacy and student safety. His leadership extends beyond administrative roles, having spearheaded various initiatives aimed at enhancing the campus environment and promoting student welfare. Upon graduation, Jackson plans to pursue a career in law and public policy.

Dr. Andrew Frank
Director, Florida State University Native American and Indigenous Studies Center
Andrew Frank is the Director of FSU's Native American and Indigenous Studies Center. He is also the Allen Morris Professor of History. He has been at FSU for 17 years and has published widely on in the history and culture of the Native American South and Indigenous peoples of Florida. He has worked with the Seminole Tribe of Florida for more than two decades.
