Florida State Alternative Breaks has empowered service-minded and community-oriented students to lead short-term service experiences in communities across the southeast United States since 1995. Each year FSAB sponsors three-to-five weekend and week-long service experiences.
The program is comprised of students who resist the status quo by building authentic relationships with community leaders, supporting community-identified service initiatives, and challenging impersonal systems of competition and division. FSAB's mission is to create change through Active Citizen Leadership.
Trips are guided by student facilitators who coordinate the experience from planning all the way to on-site service. These students are supported by center staff members, including a program coordinator and graduate assistant.
