The Purpose Project is designed to help students cultivate well-being and a strong sense of belonging through a community-centered approach. In today's world, students face stressors that affect both individuals and their communities, including natural disasters, climate change, political and social polarization, and school violence. The Purpose Project equips students to use resources, foster supportive relationships, and thrive together in the face of these challenges.
Through opportunities to engage in service, build community, and grapple with complex issues, students explore the relationship between community and personal wellness. Participants connect with resources supporting emotional, social, and creative well-being while developing a network of peers committed to making a positive impact on campus and beyond.
By creating spaces for connection, reflection, and service, the program helps students feel grounded in their new environment and empowers them to thrive both personally and collectively.
Students will gain:
- Opportunities to build meaningful relationships with like-minded students
- Connections to a network of peers dedicated to service and community engagement
- Experiences that foster personal growth, reflection, and well-being
- Increased awareness of campus and community resources that support wellness and service
- Opportunities to engage in service that strengthens connections with the broader community
This initiative uses service as both a reflective and action-oriented tool—recognizing that mental health is shaped not only by individual experiences, but also by broader community conditions.
